This penguin-shaped cup may look cute and cuddly, but it has a noble purpose: encourage guests to help the planet, one refill at a time.

In conjunction with SeaWorld(®) Orlando’s epic new attraction and ride Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin(TM) opening Memorial Day weekend, SeaWorld has created the Cup That Cares(TM)– a new reusable cup program with a twist of technology. The innovative, interactive cup was designed specifically to connect with Coca-Cola Freestyle(®) beverage dispensers in the new realm.

The new Cup That Cares engages guests in a personalized manner to reuse materials and reduce their carbon footprint. An RFID chip embedded in each Cup That Cares interacts with software at Coca-Cola Freestyle(®) dispensers to calculate and tell guests how they are being more environmentally responsible by choosing to reuse.

Plus, SeaWorld will donate $1 from each Cup That Cares purchase to the SeaWorld & Busch Gardens(®) Conservation Fund, a not-for-profit foundation that helps protect wildlife around the world.

HOW DOES IT WORK?

Technology embedded in the Cup That Cares calculates the amount of CO2 each guest saves from entering the atmosphere when they choose to reuse the cup for refills at Coca-Cola Freestyle machines in Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin. With each refill at the designated machines, exclusive software developed by Coca-Cola and SeaWorld serves up an onscreen message that is customized to that guest’s Cup That Cares history.  The message thanks the guest for choosing to reuse, tracks how many refills the Cup That Cares has been used for, and calculates the running total of CO2 the guest has saved from entering the atmosphere.

Each refill with a reusable cup prevents the emission of approximately 27 grams of CO2.

WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE:

There are two options, both available exclusively in the new Antarctica: Empire of the Penguin attraction at SeaWorld Orlando:

Cup That Cares(TM) souvenir reusable cup – available at the two beverage stations inside the attraction for $9.99 – is adorned with photos of Puck(TM) and his penguin family. Puck is  the hero penguin character featured throughout the new realm.

Create A Cup That Cares(TM) – Guests may build their own personalized penguin-shaped character cup by choosing from more than 40 accessories such as eyes, hair, glasses, hats, bow tie, necklaces and even miniature Shamu® ice cream bars and SeaWorld shopping bags. The Create A Cup That Cares will be sold in the Antarctica gift shop, and includes a free first fill at the nearby Antarctica beverage stations. Create A Cup That Cares experience starts at $15.95 with the option to add accessory items.

(Orlando, FL – March 2, 2013) On Friday, May 31, the Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra will once again join forces with Full Sail University to present Symphony in HD: Live at Full Sail University, a high-tech concert gala to benefit the orchestra. Held at Full Sail Live (141 University Park Drive, Winter Park), the event will feature the full Orlando Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Music Director Christopher Wilkins, in a concert accompanied by animation, film, lighting effects and other visual elements created by students and faculty of Full Sail University.

“We are incredibly lucky to collaborate with the phenomenally creative team of faculty and staff at Full Sail University,” says Orlando Philharmonic Executive Director David Schillhammer. “Developing the program has stretched the creative talents of both organizations, and the result is going to be an intersection of music and technology unlike anything you’ve ever seen before.”

The evening also includes a live auction and an outdoor post-concert party with Orlando Philharmonic musicians and Full Sail faculty.

Relationship coach weighs in on new evidence that men no longer quickly divorce after their wife is unfaithful.

When it comes to getting cheated on, men may be much more forgiving than previously thought – at least according to the largest survey ever of husbands who have been cheated on.

Querying over 1500 “cuckolded” males online, the survey asked the question “Do you still love your wife, even after she had the affair?” Shockingly, more than 71% of men polled answered “yes” to that question.

What’s so significant about this latest finding?

According to Kevin Jackson, the internationally recognized relationship expert who orchestrated the survey, this information flies in the face of the common belief that if a man ever found out his wife was unfaithful, he would quickly and dispassionately divorce her.

It seems that men’s feelings of love – and their desire to forgive – are much stronger than previously thought. Continue reading

This year’s expanded list of categories topped 30, honoring many more nominees and team entries as in years past. New to the awards this year was the addition of the Best Student Film. The Best Animated Special Production was awarded to “Despicable Me: Minion Mayhem” (Illumination Entertainment); Best Animated Short Subject to “Paperman” (Walt Disney Animation Studios); Best General Audience Animated TV Production for Preschool Children “Bubble Guppies ‘A Tooth on the Looth’” (Nickelodeon Animation Studios); Best Animated Television Production for Children “Dragons: Riders of Berk ‘How to Pick Your Dragon’” (DreamWorks Animation); Best General Audience Animated Television Production “Robot Chicken ‘DC Comics Special’” (Stoopid Buddy Studios); Best Animated Video Game “Journey” (Sony Computer Entertainment America); and Best Student Film “Head Over Heels” (Timothy Reckart).

“What a great evening filled with a lot of fun and surprises,” said ASIFA-Hollywood President Frank Gladstone. “A variety of individuals and studios participated and joined in celebrating the best in animation across project, studio and geographic boundaries.”

Former Annie Awards host and movie reviewer Leonard Maltin and voice actors Rob Paulsen and Maurice Lamarche shared hosting duties, along with a special appearance by long time Annies presenter-favorite, actor and animation industry professional, Seth Green.

Honored with the Winsor McCay award were Terry Gilliam, Oscar Grillo and Mark Henn. The Winsor McCay stands as one of the highest honors given to an individual in the animation industry in recognition for career contributions to the art of animation.

Howard Green was honored with the June Foray award which is presented to an individual who has given significant and benevolent contributions to the art and industry of animation, and Toon Boom Animation was honor with the Ub Iwerks award created and given to individuals or companies for technical advancements that make a significant impact on the art or industry of animation.

Often a predictor of the annual Academy Award for Best Animated Feature, the Annie Awards honor overall excellence as well as individual achievement in a total of 30 categories ranging from best feature, production design, character animation, and effects animation to storyboarding, writing, music, editing and voice acting.  Entries submitted for consideration were from productions that originally aired, were exhibited in an animation festival or commercially released between January 1, 2012 and December 31, 2012.

ASIFA-Hollywood is the world’s first and foremost professional organization dedicated to promoting the Art of Animation and celebrating the people who create it.
