mission to celebrate master photographers, discover and cultivate emerging photographers and

What: Snap! Orlando is 5‐day photography celebration showcasing the work of renowned
international, national and local photographers, as well as images from emerging
talents. The event includes: over a dozen multi‐venue exhibits, artist appearances,
workshops, lectures, parties, live art projections, performance art, portfolio reviews,
youth programs, and more. The theme for Snap! 2011 is “Perception & Reality”

When: May 04–08, 2011
Where: Downtown Orlando

Why: The mission of Snap! Orlando is to boldly increase the visibility and appreciation of the
photographic medium as a significant cultural art form and to enhance Orlando’s
national presence as a vibrant cultural tourism destination.
How: Snap! seeks to inspire and galvanize a community of art enthusiasts, from novice to
seasoned collector, around a shared passion for the photographic medium.

2011 Event: Schedule Highlights

􀂃 Kick Off Event: Outdoor Building Projection
[May 04] FREE to the entire community. Hosted by Mayor Buddy Dyer. A larger‐than‐life
projection of Snap! 2011 photo images and dynamic 3‐D animation, on the front of the
downtown Kress Building. Optimal viewing from The Plaza property across the street from the
Kress Building.

􀂃 Homegrown at OMA: Local Photographers Exhibit
[May 05] A group show featuring selected works from local photographers, will be exhibited in
the Martin and Gracia Andersen Lakeview Promenade of the Orlando Museum of Art. Opening
night coincides with OMA’s 1st Thursdays event.

􀂃 Opening Night: w/ Artist Receptions
[May 06] Snap! opens the doors to its 25, 000 sq. ft. exhibition venue with an artist reception
honoring the 2011 headlining artists. This event will feature live artist interviews, access to
Snap’s 2011 featured exhibits, no‐host bar, live entertainment and music.

􀂃 Fashion Night
[May 07] Snap! will add fashionable flair to its second night of exhibition with two art‐inspired
fashion shows, curated by Fused Fashion. This event includes access to Snap’s 2011 featured
exhibits, no‐host bar, live entertainment and music.

􀂃 Mother’s Day & Youth Art Reception: w/ Kathy Eldon
[May 08]This specially catered event will showcase artwork created by youth who from Snap!’s
Youth Photography Program. Kathy Eldon will be present to meet our youth artists, celebrate
their work, and encourage their future artistic efforts. Discounted tickets ($5) for this family friendly
event includes access to Snap’s 2011 featured exhibits, refreshments, Kathy Eldon book
signing, plus a complimentary professional “Mom & I” portrait by Kinzie+Riehm.

NOTE: Kathy Eldon is an executive producer on Julia Robert’s special “Extraordinary Mothers”
airing on the Oprah Winfrey Network on Sat, May 07, 8‐9:30 EST (during Snap!)

􀂃 Workshop & Lecture Series
[May 07 + May 08] Lectures by 2011 featured artists and workshops by local Orlando
photographers. This series was highly popular last year. Limited seats available. Arrive early.

􀂃 Maggie Taylor (FL)‐ award‐winning/published still life and digital image artist

􀂃 Elena Viserzkaya (international) –Snap!’s 2011 “Discovery”. Showing extraordinary and
provocative work in U.S. for first time at Snap!

􀂃 Kathy Eldon /Dan Eldon Exhibit (international) ‐ inspiring art exhibition celebrating the use of
creative expression, created after death of her son.

􀂃 Barry Kirsch/ The Murder City Project (local) – b&w art‐noir photography series created in
response to 2006 Orlando homicide rates

􀂃 Brian Smith/ART & SOUL (national) ‐ Pulitzer Prize winning photographer known for capturing
bold, graphic portraits of famous celebrities.

􀂃 Jim Krantz / Anguish of Chernobyl (international) ‐ 2010 Lucie Award Winner for International
Photographer of the Year. April 2011 marks the 25th Anniversary of Chernobyl disaster. Krantz
traveled to the Ukraine to photograph this haunting photo essay of Chernobyl’s Forbidden Zone.

􀂃 Andy Adams & Larissa Leclair /100 Portraits (national) – projection of 100 compelling portraits
from 100 different worldwide photographers culled from the archives of FlakPhoto.com

􀂃 Lauren Marsolier (international) ‐ French photographer whose work deals with the
psychological experience of transition.

􀂃 COOLIFE (national) – bold and engaging digital images. Garnered international recognition for
campaign work for luxury brands and editorial work

􀂃 Historic Preservation Exhibit (local) ‐ A select choice of images from popular Historic
Preservation Board Calendar, years 2005‐2011.

􀂃 Red Chair Project (local) ‐ the best of last year’s Red Chair Affair’s iconic “little red chair” photos
and sneak peek at this year’s performance‐themed submissions.

􀂃 Cecil B. Stone (local) ‐ award‐winning photographer considered one of the top stereo
photographers in the world. His new 3‐D images will be exhibited.
