Duluth, GA – A late third period power play goal doomed the Solar Bears to their second-straight 1-0 loss to the Gwinnett Gladiators at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday night.

After neither side scored in the first period, the Gladiators had a great chance to break a scoreless tie late in the second frame. A five-minute major for boarding was issued to LW Brett Lyon, partially offset by a two-minute roughing call to Gladiators F Maxime Villmaire. The Solar Bears were able to put together a strong penalty-killing effort and kept the score 0-0 heading into the third.

A power play midway through the final frame would help Gwinnett score the deciding goal. F Alex Belzile had a cross-crease pass bounce right back onto his stick and tipped it just over the outstretched pad of G Darcy Kuemper to knock in the game-winning goal with 8:35 left to play.

Three Stars: 1. A. Belzile (GWT); 2. L. Domingue (GWT); 3. D. Kuemper (ORL)
Power Plays: ORL: 0/4; GWT: 1/6
Shots: ORL: 22; GWT: 37
