Orlando Plays Final Game of 2012-13 Season Tomorrow in Estero

Estero, FL –  Center Joel Broda scored his first goal as a Solar Bears but the Solar Bears fell 5-1 to the Florida Everblades at the Germain Arena on Friday night.

Florida got the scoring started just 1:46 seconds into the game. F Shawn O’Donnell squeezed a pass between G Bryce Merriam and the right goal post on to the stick of Derick MartinF Mike Merrifield, and Merrifield slipped the puck into the open net to give Florida the 1-0 lead. The Everblades increased their lead to 2-0 at 13:59, when a defensive zone turnover concluded with O’Donnell knocking home his own rebound on a backhander, giving the Everblades the two goal lead heading into the second frame.

A scoreless second period saw the 2-0 score head into the third, where the Everblades quickly increased their lead. During 4-on-4 action, C David Rutherford completed an end-to-end rush, tucking the shot past Merriam to open up a 3-0 lead. F Corey Trivino made it 4-0 when he snapped home a rebound on a power play, and F Matthew Pistillia pushed the score to 5-0 when one-timed home a pass from LW Mathieu Roy at 13:40. Orlando got on the board with 4:55 to play, when C Joel Broda tipped home a pass from C Ryan Cruthers while shorthanded for the final 5-1 score.

Relationship coach weighs in on new evidence that men no longer quickly divorce after their wife is unfaithful.

When it comes to getting cheated on, men may be much more forgiving than previously thought – at least according to the largest survey ever of husbands who have been cheated on.

Querying over 1500 “cuckolded” males online, the survey asked the question “Do you still love your wife, even after she had the affair?” Shockingly, more than 71% of men polled answered “yes” to that question.

What’s so significant about this latest finding?

According to Kevin Jackson, the internationally recognized relationship expert who orchestrated the survey, this information flies in the face of the common belief that if a man ever found out his wife was unfaithful, he would quickly and dispassionately divorce her.

It seems that men’s feelings of love – and their desire to forgive – are much stronger than previously thought. Continue reading

Orlando Magic Youth Foundation Black Tie and Tennies Charity Gala Raises More Than $500k for the Central Florida Community

The Orlando Magic Youth Foundation’s (OMYF) Black Tie and Tennies Charity Gala raised $547,308 with matching funds at .50 on the dollar provided by the McCormick Foundation. All proceeds benefit the OMYF. 

The 23rd Annual OMYF Black Tie and Tennis Charity Gala presented by FAIRWINDS Credit Union was held on March 23 at the Amway Center.  More than 700 guests were in attendance for an evening of silent and live auctions, gourmet food, activities and interaction with Magic players, coaches and executives.  One of the highlights of the evening was the announcement of the Rich and Helen DeVos Community Enrichment Award winner.  This year Magic captain Jameer Nelson was recognized for his efforts off the court and in the Central Florida community.  Nelson will receive $50,000 from the Richard and Helen DeVos Foundation to donate to the charities of his choice.  Photos by Gary Bassing Continue reading

Orlando, FL –  The Solar Bears fell to Florida Everblades by a 3-1 score in front of 8,558 fans at the Amway Center for their final home game of the 2012-13 season on Wednesday night.

Florida started the scoring with a power play goal at 5:39 in the first period. F Ryan CruthersAdam Brace took control of the puck at the blue line and fired a pass to F Matthew Pistilli who redirected the puck in front of the net, giving Florida a 1-0 lead that continued into the second period.
