Gives the Gift of Comfort to Domestic Violence Victims

Pearls for Women is proud to announce they will present bath robes and flip flops for women in need of comfort after domestic violence to the Women’s Resource Center. The recipient agencies will be Harbor House of Orange County, Safe House of Seminole County, and Help Now of Osceola County.

Partnering with supporters and sponsors such as the Women’s Resource Center, Stein Mart, and BeautiControl, Pearls for Women hosted an event to launch the robe donation drive. Since then, local women in the Orlando community have continued to donate robes and flip flops. As the women in need take refuge at safe houses across the tri-county area, they will receive a robe and a pair of flip flops with a note of encouragement and well wish.

Eva Krzewinski and Lanette Jarvis founded Pearls for Women in 2008 to connect women to the business community and philanthropic organizations. They are dedicated to helping women in transition, whether it is from job loss, an empty nest or a recent divorce. Those who suffer from domestic violence not only have to transition into a new life but they must heal as well. The healing process starts with feeling safe and secure, therefore the bath robes were collected and will be distributed to help comfort and encourage these women as they begin their new life.

The Women’s Resource Center has been empowering women since 1984 through identifying, impacting and supporting women’s social, educational, health, political, economic, spiritual and artistic issues. They were selected to facilitate the delivery of the robes and flip flops to the three organizations because they are connected through their heart strings to women in the community that help heal. WRC Board President, Patty De Young says, “We were happy to see that Pearls for Women thought outside the box and created the bathrobe drive. Although we can’t be there to give victims one on one comfort, we hope a nice comfy robe will help them to begin to heal.”

The robe presentation will take place at the Pearl’s for Women Power Lunch on August 15, 2013 at Maxine’s on Shine beginning at 11:30. Limited seating for lunch is available to the public. For more information or to reserve please email
