New Smyrna Beach has been voted “Best Beach” in the Orlando Sentinel‘s”Best Bets” competition seven years in a row (2007 – 2013), by Central Floridians. Last year, National Geographic Magazine named New Smyrna Beach one of “The World’s Top 20 Surf Towns”; and  this year, renowned coastal expert, Professor Stephen Leatherman of FIU (aka, “Dr. Beach”), designated New Smyrna Beach one of “Florida’s Top 10 Beach Towns” for USA Today.

Volusia County is already a global tourism hotspot that draws thousands to events like Speed Weeks and Bike Weeks in Daytona. “Beach Weeks” will utilize a similar events-driven approach to further raise the profile of the pristine beaches, active outdoor lifestyle and family-friendly character of New Smyrna Beach and Southeast Volusia County, which also includes the areas of Port Orange, Edgewater, Oak Hill and Osteen.
