Dear Amigos, Hola. I am sending you the upcoming events of the Mayor’s Office of Multicultural Affairs:

  • January 21 – Meeting with the Association of Hispanic Poets & Writers and Artists – 3:00-4:30 p.m., Conference room ‘R’, second floor City Hall
    • Members of this association will have their monthly meeting in City Hall. This meeting will allow the City to offer information about the upcoming multicultural events. Hispanic artists are welcomed to this conversation.
  • February 4 – Bilingual Grants Workshop – 5:30-7:30 p.m., HOLA, 595 North Primrose Drive
    • The City of Orlando and United Arts of Central Florida will present a bilingual workshop for local Hispanic/Latino cultural organizations and artists wishing to apply for grants offered by United Arts of Central Florida, Mayor’s Matching Grant Program and Orange County Arts & Cultural Affairs. This workshop will explain eligibility and requirements for grant programs, in addition to other resources. Please RSVP to 
  • Saturday, March 1 Mayor’s Neighborhood and Community Summit – 7:30 a.m.-2:15 p.m., DoubleTree by Hilton at the entrance to Universal Orlando
    • Please join Mayor Buddy Dyer for the 9th Neighborhood & Community Summit. For registration information go to Mayor’s Dyer’s annual Summit brings together neighborhood, arts and cultural, civic, community and faith-based leaders and volunteers to learn and share best practices for community building and civic engagement. This Summit is one way we keep you informed, connected and involved in your City. Register by February 14 and pay only $10.       • Exhibitors Opportunities – As an exhibitor the Summit offers your business or organization an opportunity to connect with neighborhood and community leaders and residents. The cost for exhibit space is $100; the non-for-profit rate is $50. Due to space limitation, exhibit tables will be offered on a first come first serve basis. The deadline for exhibitor registration and payment is February 14. 2014. 
  • March 7 – Brazilian Chamber of Commerce’s Monthly Breakfast Seminar – 9-10 a.m., Florida Mall Hotel
    • Kim King, City’s Business Development Assistance Manager, will be the guest speaker of the Brazilian Chamber’s Monthly Breakfast. The City’s Business Development Program workshop will offer an overview of the City’s programs and services available to businesses at various stages.   • 2014 Mayor’s City Academy – will begin on Thursday, February 27th  
    • The City of Orlando is now accepting applications for the 2014 Mayor’s City Academy. The Mayor’s City Academy is an ideal way to become informed about your City government. Let us take you on a backstage tour of the City Beautiful, highlighting some of the services, activities and opportunities the City of Orlando has to offer. This 10-week program familiarize you with our hard-working City family, featuring road trips, field demonstrations, department tours and many other experiences that will give you a new perspective and stronger sense of pride in your community. Deadline to submit an application is Saturday, February 1st.
