SOLAR BEARS FREE AGENT CAMP SET FOR SEPTEMBER 9
Free Agent Tryouts Held at RDV Sportsplex Ice Den

Orlando, FL – The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Minnesota Wild and Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Iowa Wild and Toronto Marlies, announced today that they will hold their third annual Free Agent Camp on Tuesday, September 9, at the RDV Sportsplex Ice Den.

Three players have advanced to Solar Bears training camp after attending Free Free Agent Camp Agent camp in the previous two seasons. Alexander Milley earned an invite to the main camp last season while Ed Levens and Matt Panzo each advanced prior to the start of the 2012-13 season. Levens earned a spot on the Solar Bears roster and went on to play in 36 games for Orlando, scoring one goal and adding three assists along with 51 PIM.

“It’s a great opportunity for the coaching staff to evaluate talent and for the players who may or may not have had a chance in the past to showcase themselves,” said Orlando Solar Bears Head Coach Vince Williams.

All players must be 18 years of age or older and players attending camp must not be under contract with any team at the ‘AA’ level or higher for the upcoming 2014-15 season and must not have played in over thirty-six (36) professional games at the ‘AA’ level or higher, which includes but is not limited to the NHL, AHL, ECHL, or Central Hockey League. Spots at the tryout will be held on a first-come, first-serve basis and all participants must pay in full to reserve a spot. Please note that only eight (8) goalie spots will be available to prospective players.

Participating players are required to bring full equipment, including a half-visor/shield for skaters, mask for goaltenders, and mouth guards. The cost of the tryout is $275 per player and includes two practices, one scrimmage, lunch, and each player will keep their tryout camp jersey. Transportation, accommodations, and meals will be the responsibility of the attending player and will not be provided by the Solar Bears.

Tryouts will be held on Tuesday, September 9, at the RDV Sportsplex Ice Den at 8701 Maitland Summit Blvd, Orlando, FL 32810. The first on-ice session will begin promptly at 8:45 a.m., with check in starting at 7:00 a.m. Participants must preregister by Tuesday, September 2. To register, download and fill out the Tryout Application and Waiver and Release Form completely and fax to (321) 972-1924 or email to kmuchacho@orlandosolarbearshockey.com.
