PATTERSON, SEFTON AGREE TO TERMS WITH ORLANDO

Solar Bears Add Goaltender, Defenseman to Roster

Orlando, FL – The Orlando Solar Bears, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Toronto Maple Leafs and AHL’s Toronto Marlies, announced today that they have agreed to terms with G Kent Patterson and D Justin Sefton.
Kent Patterson
Patterson (6-1, 180 lbs.) was drafted in the fourth round, #113 overall, by the Colorado Avalanche in the 2007 NHL draft. He played two games for the Lake Erie  Monsters (AHL) last season, going 1-1 with a 3.00 GAA and .902 save percentage. In 40 games with the Denver Cutthroats (CHL), he posted a 23-10-7 record with a .922 save percentage and 2.71 GAA. Patterson completed his rookie season in 2012-13, playing five games for Lake Erie with a 1-2-1 record, 2.55 GAA, and .907 save percentage, and 33 games for Denver going 14-10-6 with a 3.01 GAA and .910 save percentage.

A native of Plymouth, MN, Patterson played four seasons (2008-12) for the University of Minnesota (NCAA), posting a career record of 44-29-9 with a 2.46 GAA and .912 save percentage. In his senior season (2011-12), Patterson was the WCHA Goaltending Champion, a WCHA First Team All-Star, an NCAA Second Justin SeftonTeam All-American, and was named to the WCHA All-Academic team.

Sefton (6-3, 227 lbs.) was drafted in the third round, #89 overall, by the San Jose  Sharks in the 2011 NHL Draft. He starts his rookie campaign after playing the last five seasons (2009-14) in the OHL, finishing his career with 95 points (28G, 67A) and 526 PIM in 327 games. The Thunder Bay, ON, native served as an alternate captain for the Saginaw Spirit in 2013-14, as well as for the Sudbury Wolves from 2011-2013. He made his professional debut last season, playing in one game for the Fort Wayne Komets and picking up 2 PIM.
