Orlando-based architect and artist James Cornetet was born in Ohio in 1981. Although he began his career as an architect his interest in design and the arts has resulted in his work earning recognition at the local, national and international levels.
Cornetet’s ground breaking High Fidelity series represents the culmination of his skills in graphic design, photography and his research in CNC fabrication technologies. The images of the series features butterflies at an unprecedented fidelity and required Cornetet to design a custom CNC camera to enable him the ability to create these iconic images. Giga-pixel (1,000 mega-pixel) images reveal the hidden beauty of these creatures that we only superficially understand as two decorated and fluttering wings. Each image is the compilation of nearly 4,000 individual photographs painstakingly stitched together in hand with the skill of an artist to reveal one of the most beloved insects in high fidelity.
In his first solo exhibition Cornetet calls the viewer to stop and look… and look again as he develops a complex framework of polemics and subtle juxtapositions, empowering the audience to engage the critical issues of our current and troublesome epoch.
I hope to have the pleasure of your company at this event.
