Brazilian Basketball Champions Flamengo at BoiBrazil.

Flamengo Brazilian Basketball Team is in Orlando, they are here to play the Orlando Magic as part of their pre-season  campaign. The team is complete and with all the stars aligned for the big game in two days. Wednesday night is the big night at the Amway Arena, home of the Orlando Magic.

As part of the community I can assure, everyone wants to have the boys around. They visited Giraffa’s, Cafe Mineiro, Disney, The Orlando City Soccer Club and tonight BoiBrazil Steakhouse, for a great Dinner, with several fans, and the Press. It was a very enjoyable evening, supported by the Orlando Magic and the Central Florida Brazilian American Chamberof Commerce.

Flamengo’s Basketball team is a Brazilian professional team, part of the Clube de Regatas do Flamengo family. It is the most traditional and successful  basketball teams in Brazil. They won the Brazilian National League four times, once as Brazilian National Championship and three times the NBB (current Brazilian League format). The club also won Liga Sudamericana (LSB) in 2009, FIBA Americas League in 2014 and FIBA Intercontinental Cup also in 2014. Brazil’s all time legend Oscar Schmidt had played for Flamengo between 1999 and 2003 being one of the most important players in the club’s history.

The FIBA Intercontinental Cup, commonly referred to as the FIBA World Cup for Champion Clubs, or the FIBA Club World Cup, is a professional basketballcompetition endorsed by FIBA, FIBA Americas and Euroleague Basketball Company. Historically, its purpose has been to gather the premier basketball clubs from each of the world’s geographical zones, and to officially decide the best club of the world, which is officially crowned as the world club champion. The World Cup for Clubs has been contended mainly by the champions of the continents and/or world geographical regions that are of the highest basketball levels.

Currently, the champions of the FIBA Americas League play against the champions of the Euroleague, in an aggregate score two-legged series that determines the official world club champion. The league champions of the NBA, which would be considered the top club from the North American zone, currently decline participation. Flamengo is the winner for 2014, and holds the title proudly
