Orange County Convention Center Finishes Year StrongThe OCCC hosts new and repeat business in Orlando, Florida

The Orange County Convention Center finished the year strong with some major repeat clients such as the PGA Merchandise Show, National Plastics Exposition, Premiere Beauty and International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions, along with a few brand new events, including The American Association of Pharmaceutical Scientists, CAMX, Oncology Nurses and Windpower.

Orlando tourism is booming with a record breaking 62 million visitors to the area. Cvent, the leader in cloud-based enterprise event management solutions, announced Orlando as the number one destination for meeting and events in the U.S. for the year of 2015. “No other city is being talked about in the industry quite like Orlando,” stated Kathie Canning, Orange County Convention Center executive director. “We’re introducing an incredible amount of new business and tourism to Orange County and it speaks volumes about the consolidated efforts from our sales team, Visit Orlando, service partners, attractions, hotels and our stakeholders that continue to make an impact in many positive ways.”

To remain competitive in the convention market, the OCCC is experiencing one of the most significant renovation projects in its history, including a facelift throughout the West Concourse that will be complete in 2017. Upgrades include a renovated ballroom, outdoor terrace, updated meeting rooms, technology enhancements and other much-needed transformations to keep the OCCC on the forefront of national meeting planners’ minds.

If that was not enough, a variety of additional attractions and enhancements to the local retail, dining and entertainment districts have opened and many more are underway. In just a few years, Orlando will also be among the first destinations with an on-airport intermodal facility in the country and the first airport in Florida to conveniently support air travel, ground transportation and rail.
